Implementing the Aarhus Convention – launching the sustainable partnerships between the NGOs from both sides of the Nistru River

Short description:

– To encourage the promotion of the Aarhus Convention among environment NGOs from the both banks of the Nistru River

– Improve the level of knowledge and skills of environment NGOs from the both banks in applying the principles of the Aarhus Convention;

– Solve specific local environment problems by applying the principles of the Aarhus Convention in cooperation with the NGOs from the both sides (mini grants);

Beneficiaries: 171 environmental activists trained while 8 NGOsfrom both banks of the Nistru river, with a modest experience in the area, supported in establishing sustainable partnerships with other NGOs.

Results: 67 representatives of environmental NGOs from the both banks of the Nistru River have strengthened their skills and knowledge about the right to a healthy environment, access to information, public participation at the decision process in the area of environment protection, and access to justice on environment matters, during 4 thematic trainings on promoting the principles of the Aarhus Convention. Among the participants were representatives of 14 out of 19 existing environment NGOs in the TN region and representatives of 34 NGOs from the right bank. During these activities the main emphasis was put on preparing the participants for the upcoming small grants program, envisaged by the project as a practical exercise.
