The passengers from Molovata ferry were surprised today with a classical music concert. Four young men played the violin, viola and violoncello during the trip between the two sides of the river Nistru. The musicians played some fragments from Bach and Mozart, but also some Michael Jackson’ and Sting’s songs.
The recital was provided by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, which announced in this way the launch of a big-scale project, financed by the European Union, aiming to get the two sides of the river Nistru closer.
The “Music Connecting People” tour will consist of 10 concerts within 10 months, of which 9 will be conducted on the left side of the river Nistru. As musicians will travel to each community and back to Chisinau, they will cover almost 2500 kilometers. About 100 musicians from both sides of the River Nistru, from EU, USA, Ukraine and Russia are involved.
The “Music Connecting People” project starts on Friday with an open-air concert at the “Casa Karaman” guesthouse in Ternovka village on the left side of the river Nistru, close to Tiraspol. Four musicians will play classical and pop music.
The project is financed by the European Union through the EU Programme “Confidence Promotion Measures” implemented by UNDP Moldova. You may find more about the program on UNDP Moldova web-site: www.md.undp.org, and on FB: Poduri de încredere peste Nistru/OK: Мосты доверия через Днестр.
