First settlement in Moldova, Ofatinti village, Ribnita

– An archeological monument of 2×2 meters and 3 meters high, marks the place where the first human settlement was discovered on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The construction was made of colored mosaic concrete in 1950s. It has two marble information panels and two metal panels depicting scenes from human life in the Paleolithic. The monument was built on a bank of earth where stone tools and ceramic statuettes, mammoth bones, bears and hyenas bones, etc., at least 1 million years old, had been found.

– The monument is partially destroyed, with vertical cracks, and possibly vandalized – pieces of text panels are missing. It is necessary to restore the building, perform archaeological excavations, illuminate the monument, repair the information panels.
